New Neighborhood

Today we drove around our new neighborhood and the surrounding areas to get a lay of the land (and to get Nora to take a nap!). I learned that we have lakefront access with a park and picnic area 2/10 of a mile from our house and the public library is only 4/10 of a mile! It is going to be great to have so many things within walking distance even though we are technically going to be living in the sticks.

We also pulled our tomato plants out this afternoon. They were completely infested with white flys. Brian looked them up on the web. They were very tiny, but they were laying eggs on all the leaves and in the stem of the plant. There were tons of green tomatoes, but none of them were turning red. It was pretty gross cutting them down because the flies would fly up into your face like a cloud. I guess it was better to take them out now rather then right before we move when I know we will be feeling overwhelmed.

Congratulations to Brian's parents who have joined the ranks of the Bloggers:

send a link of your house already...or at least pictures! I can't wait to see the REAL one. Sounds great. and really...the sticks aren't so bad with little ones. Neighbors with families is the key, and it sounds like that's what you'll have with the park and lake. Such fun!
When do you move?

We move in on November 10th. Things work strangely here. We close on October 24th, but don't take possession until November 1st. We're going to make sure everything is clean and possibly put in hardwood floors before we actually get in there.

Harsh chemicals are the best way to go. Not only do they kill, but they keep us nice and preserved. Or, it's been said that the bugs still haven't found a resistance to a boot.

Your new house is beautiful April! The sticks are great, even if you don't have kids and want to get away from city life for a while! We sure appreciate it after F-18s flying overhead!!! hehe
